Governor Ted Strickland has opinioned that video slots in the horse race tracks of the state will bring in more money to the state. He states that this cane be done without any kind of changes being made in the constitution.

There was also a proposal made by the casino gambling companies to bring in casino gambling to Ohio. The petition had to have 402, 275 signatures to meet up with a voting session; however, it had 850,000 signatures done, which is twice more than what is actually needed.

David Zanotti, the president of the Ohio roundtable is not for either of the plans; however, he has to say that Ted Strickland is illegal in his approaches. He supports his view by stating that permissions to install slots are not a decision that should be made by the State, rather it should be federally approved. He also added that apart from not providing with the option of being able to add slots, the Ohio Lottery and State Constitution does not place emphasis on making decisions based on voters approval and rejections!

Ohio has failed in nearly 4 voting sessions in favor of gambling; however, the bad economic climate might force voters to do what they have not done until far to eventually make a favorable vote.

However, Zanotti stated, his team will be up to suing the slots if they find their way to the state budget with their promises of scope for Tax revenues.

“My guess is we’ll tie them up in court long enough that they won’t see a penny of the revenue projections,” stated Zanotti.

In response to the remarks made by Zanotti, Green remarked “Strickland, too, opposes casinos. But ironically, his support for the slots could help the casinos.”

There seems to be a situational approval and most of the favorable votes are ironical agreements to meet up with deficiency.
