Penghu County Government is likely to be approved on legalization of casino gambling.
The Penghu County Government did apply for legalization to the Central Government 2 months ago in April 09, 2009. Eventually, a positive result for declared on June 17, 2009; however, further requiring voting majority from the residents of Penghu because legalization of casino gambling has various impact on the life style and environment of the residents.
Legalization influences the law and order, the quality of the people visiting the country and lot more. Therefore the government has required a voting majority to approve casino gambling in Penghu.
There were recommendations for providing landing visa for people who are traveling from China to the islands; however, this has not been approved and it is yet under consideration.
Nearly 5% voting residents from Penghu must sign the petition for legalization of gambling before the papers are sent for processing to the magistrate.
If there is a majority voting seen for the coming of the casinos then a supervisory commission with be formed to monitor the overall activities of gambling in Penghu and appropriate attempts will be made to improve the casinos to state-of-art model casino in the global arena.
Those who are in support of legalization of casinos are looking at this as an opportunity to help the local businesses to catch up and improve with the coming of tourists and gamblers to the state.
The current legalization will home only 2 casinos and if a third one should be approved it should wait for a decade. The casinos that are legalized must provide with a 1000 room hotel and vacation complex.
However, the Mainland Affairs Council will have to approve the proceeds if all this should happen. There is still an existent debate between the gambling opponents and gambling favorites.
