The legislators of Illinois are working massive plans to generate better casino revenue to the state; however, statistical reports project that casino revenues have declined in Illinois by almost 21%. This is a great drawback, because this is the big number showing declines of all the other states suffering recession in gambling income.
The figures and statistics are discouraging to the legislator ideas because Illinois has been since long known to be a better place to make gambling revenues.
A comparative study by the American Gaming Association showed that the reported decline is massive and when compared to Indiana, it seems that Indiana fares better. Indiana projects better gambling revenue and a better gambling related employment hiring process.
The gambling industry competition from Indiana might also be a major reason for the decline in revenues for Illinois.
The past year revenue records for Illinois were $1.57 billion and the revenue records for Indiana project $2.67 billions after the 2% betterment in revenues. Illinois seems to be no where near the better trends for gambling industry with Indiana.
Though it is apparent that the Indiana is a potent gambling competitor and better performed in several ways than Illinois, gambling managements in Illinois project a numb reason for the decline in revenues “The Ban on smoking Indoors!”
The decline has also related reasons other than the ban on smoking. It is unlikely that ban of smoking is the only reason for the decline. There is an overall decrease in the spending pattern of Illinois-ites. Job cuts and decreased income to pay massive bills might have caused them to rather cut down and re-prioritize gambling. In many families gambling plans have been eradicated and in several others they have been put off for tomorrow or a better day after.
The fire on the Joliet’s Empress Casino, which was closed due to repair work underway is also a reason for the smoked off revenues.
