Nearly 850,000 signatures which favored the coming of a casino in Ohio were submitted by Penn National Gaming.

The submission was made to bring in an amendment in law favoring the coming of the casino in Ohio in the November Ballot. The petition was supported by Penn National and by the major stake holder of NBA’s Cleveland Cavaliers and the founder of Quicken Loans.

The submission was made on the same day that the Penn National Gaming re-opened their Argosy casino.

The submission was made in Columbus by the Ohio Jobs and Growth Committee to legalize casinos in 4 zones in Ohio. One of the four zones in the list Broadway Commons in Cincinnati near downtown.

The Argosy Casino is now known by a new name Hollywood Casino. The Hollywood casino can home 9,000 guests which is twice the number that was supported by the Argosy Casino. The Hollywood casino re-opened under a new name with due permission from the Indiana Gaming Commission.

The sooner it was opened there were nearly 800 people per the General Manager of the Hollywood Casino. Their database of 100,000 customers was notified of the re-opening by an automated telephonic system.

The signatures in the petition is twice the actual number of signatures required to have the deal proceed for the ballot and this slots idea is likely to fill in a gap of 3.2 million budget deficit.

None of them are really sure of what the proposal is actually based upon, per Bob Tenenbaum, a senior counselor.

After the details pertaining to the slots permitted are finalized the Ohio Jobs and Growth Committee will be able to provide with appropriate numbers. Tax revenues will increase to $771 million by the completion of the fifth year of operation if the slots were approved.
